Hi guys,

Class one:

Today we are focusing on writing correction. This will focus on some very common mistakes that students of this level make.

https://www.lessonplansdigger.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Checking-your-work.pdf

Part one focuses on types of mistakes. Students will identify and correct the mistakes, and then say what type of mistake has been made. They will then put this into practice by reading an FCE level review that contains 12 errors. Individually students must find and correct the work.

We will also discuss how the writing part of the exam is marked, using this scheme:

Please read page 37.

Homework: The homework today is recuperation for those who have missed various classes. Please ensure that pages 30-31, 33-34 and 27-28 are completed. Finally, there are some students who have been absent during the exam period. Please complete both parts of the writing exam found at:

Class two:

Today we are continuing with some common mistakes from the writing exam, focusing specifically on subject-verb agreement. Students will complete sentences by selecting the correct verb form and then ‘bet money’ on the answer being correct. We will check these answers using a powerpoint and discuss the answers.

Then students will play phrasal verb dominoes in order to practise some common example at this level. To finish the class we will watch a short TED talk about English Mania, and if the world is becoming obsessed with the english language.

Homework:

You have received this email from an English-speaking boy called Simon.

Hello,
I would like to get to know someone from your country and a friend has told me that you would like to practise your English. Perhaps we could email each other. Could you tell me a bit about yourself and your family? Could you suggest how we might meet sometime in the future?
Thanks,
Simon
