Happy Monday : )

Here is the plan for the week’s classes.

Class one:

Today we going to look at a the use of inversion, which will be very useful in formal and semi-formal writing. We will begin by looking at how it is formed and why/when it can be used effectively. Then we will practice it orally with the help of Indiana Jones, before students make a written record. This grammar point also comes up in part 4 of the Reading and Use of English exam so we will look at some key word transformations. Below you can find all the material that will be used in the class.

We will look at the structure of this writing, and the type of language you are expected to use. This will include how to describe the plot, characters and other important features of a film, as well as express your own, critical, analysis and opinion. Additionally, we will look at specific structures that are followed by -ing or to + infinitive. We will use a photocopy from the CAE compact to see a model answer, and then discuss it.
