Hi guys,
In class one students spent the class planning, preparing and debating a set topic. Today we looked at whether the internet did more harm than good.
Homework: Exam task on page 26 and 27
In class two we are going to look at part 1 of the listening exam on page 24. Students will discuss the topics of each extract, to uncover the vocabulary likely to come up in the listening extracts before listening to each extract. We will also look at each of the sets of questions identifying what is being asked and drawing attention to typical questions (e.g. what they both agree on, what do they disagree about?). We will repeat this twice to cover all three of the extracts. The main topics are arguing, lying, and flat-sharing.
Homework:
Your class has attended a panel discussion on how technology has impacted – both positively and negatively – on our daily lives. You have made the notes below.
Which aspect of our life has been affected most by technology?
– Education
– Technology addictions
– Workplace productivity
Some opinions expressed in the discussion:
“Technology has changed the ways of education and learning methods. We were not able in the past to get information so quickly and with such flexibility.”
“Most children and teens are addicted to the internet. For them, technology is a toy. This can be a good change, but what about creativity and their brain development?”
“Such technological changes in business will reduce production costs and increase profits.”
Write an essay for your tutor, discussing two of the methods in your notes. You should explain which aspect has been impacted on the most, giving reasons to support your opinion.
You may, if you wish, make use of the opinions expressed in the discussion but you should use your own words as far as possible. Write your essay in 220-260 words in an appropriate style.
