Today we are going to talk about our favourite free time activities and sports.

First we will discuss our favourite day of the week and why. We will learn vocabulary related to free time and students will say what they enjoy doing on their favourite day.

Then we will look at the adverbs of frequency (never, hardly ever, sometimes, often, usually, always) to say how often we do our favourite hobbies.

Students will then work in two breakout rooms in teams of two to climb the adverb ladder by making sentences.

To finish class we will play a Bamboozle to practise making sentences with the adverbs: https://www.baamboozle.com/game/77129

Homework:

Students have to make sentences using adverbs of frequency.

Never – Hardly ever – Sometimes – Usually – Often – Always

In the first sentence we have to use the verb to be and an adjective to say how we feel. Then, in the second sentence, students have to make a sentence using a verb. For example:

I am always happy.

I always play football with my brother.

I am hardly ever sad.

I hardly ever eat ice cream.

In class two we will start with a spelling bee about sports.

Next we will put the sports into categories depending on the verb with use with them:

We will revise the adverbs of frequency from last class by saying how often we do these sports.

Students will then hear a description of a sport, and they have to guess which sport is being described.

Next we will learn how to use the present continuous. Students will look at a picture and say what the people are doing.

We will also play a game to practise this grammar.   https://www.eslgamesplus.com/present-progressive-continuous-esl-grammar-fun-game-online/

Homework: Students must write sentences using the present continuous
