Class one

In class one we will look at listening part 2 on page 20. Before listening, we will examine the vocabulary in exercise 1 and check our understanding of the words. We will then look at photographs of the Festival of the Sun in Peru, and use the words in exercise one to describe what can be seen. We will complete the exam task and check our answers.

Following this we will complete part 3 of the reading and use of english exam.

To finish class we will play a Kahoot to practise some common expressions at C1 level.

Homework

Class two

In class two we are going to study participle clauses on page 18 of the book with the help of the famous Halloween film ‘Chucky’.

We will begin by discussing what scares us and some typical phobias that people may have. We’ll also talk about Halloween films that we find scary and what makes them so scary.

Next students will watch a ‘prank video’ involving Chucky and complete a number of sentences using participle clauses. We will discuss what the clauses are used for, and look at some more examples on page 18 in exercise 1. As a class we will complete exercise 3 together on the board.

Our final activity today will be to solve a mysterious murder. Students will read clues from a crime scene, and create a narrative based on them, incorporating as many participle clauses as possible.
