Class one

Today in class we are going to revise the passive voice, including the more simple passives, reporting passives, and the causative.

The information for today’s class can be found on page 174 of the book, and in the following PDF:

We will begin class with an activity in pairs in which students have to crack the passive voice code which will allow us to understand the entire text.

Following on we will complete a sentence transformation exercise containing reporting passives. We will then look at certain structures that require the passive infinitive.

Finally we will revise the causative in relation to places in the city.

We will finish with a Bamboozle to practise this grammar.

Class two

Today we will start out by practising the collaborative exam task from the speaking task. This will involve using some of the vocabulary related to animal sounds that we learned last week.

In class two we will also look at how to write an article about a place of natural beauty. We’ll begin with some general discussion:

  1. What’s the most impressive natural scenery you’ve ever seen?
    1. What was so special about it?
    2. How did being in this place make you feel?
  2. What are some famous natural attractions in your country?
  3. What can people gain from visiting natural places?
  4. Why are places of natural beauty so important to preserve?
    1. What importance do they play in their local area and in their country?

We will examine the example answer on page 30 and revise the structure of a CPE article. Afterwards we will look at how to liven up our writing with the use of adjectives to immerse the reader in our writing.

We will play a Kahoot that contains proficiency-level adjectives that can be used to describe places of natural beauty.
