Class One:

This week we will talk about crime. You will learn some new vocabulary, for example the difference between a thief, a burglar and a robber.

For this lesson you will need the following worksheet. You will work in pairs to complete comprehension and vocabulary activities.

At the end of the class we will review our new crime vocab with a Kahoot quiz.

Homework

Prepare a small project based on a crime story from an English-speaking newspaper. Make a mind map of all the crime-related vocabulary you have found in the story and prepare a short summary of what happened. You will have to tell the others about this in the next class.

Class Two:

We will begin by looking at the news stories you have found online.

We will then do a speaking activity called Amnesty. You will have to decide which prisoner should be released from prison, so better make a compelling argument! You can find the activity here.

Homework

Write an official letter to the president asking for amnesty for one of the prisoners of your choice. The aim of the letter is to explain the reasons why they should be released and persuade the president.

Here you can find some useful phrases to include in your letter. Remember to write 140-190 words.
