Homework: RUoE part 8 pages 118-119

In class two we will start off working in pairs to complete a speaking part 3 exam task, with part 4 questions following.
Students will then watch a video about a job interview gone wrong, and we will discuss what qualities a person needs to be successful in an interview. We will also discuss the do’s and don’ts of a good job interview.
To finish class we will do an interview role play
Candidate 1:
You are 35 years old, you have had the same job in the same company since you were 18. You have to change jobs because your company has gone bankrupt. You have 17 years of experience doing the job you are going for. You’d like this job because it’s a bigger store and you’d like to sell a wider variety of products. You’re ambitious with extensive management experience. Sometimes you can get annoyed with colleagues who aren’t as focused on the customers as you are. The shoe store was making a loss when you first arrived, and now it makes a good profit.
Candidate 2:
You are 35 years old. You have had 17 different jobs over the last 17 years. You only worked to save money to go travelling. After gaining life experience, you feel that it’s a good time to take the next step in your life- you want to settle down and start a family. You know people who work for Ryan’s Sporting Goods and they told you it’s a great company to work for. You’re a friendly and professional person and you love to serve others. Sometimes you can get talking to customers and lose track of time. In your last job you turned the golf department into the most successful area of the store. Convince the managers that you are the one for the job
Interviewers:
You have 2 candidates for a role in your company (you decide the role) one candidate has a lot of work experience and the other has a lot of life experience. Interview them both and make a decision.
