Class one
If you think your students know who Pac-Man, Mario and Lara Croft are, this is a lesson for you. It’s based on a short history of video gaming and top 7 games that shaped that industry. To start the lesson we will discuss in small groups some warm-up discussion questions that introduce the topic. Next we will look at synonyms. Students will match up pairs of words they’ll need to know before watching the video. We will then complete a listening comprehension based on the TED video and also look at some fixed expressions and idioms that come up. To finish the class we will have a class discussion and debate based on the topic.

Class two:
Have you ever wondered how successful people manage their time? Today we will watch a TED talk that gives us a glimpse into their approach to managing time. We will learn the most challenging vocabulary from the video through a word-building exercise, as well as learn idioms related to time. There are also three speaking activities – one focused on using idioms, one for considering the impact of the so-called time thieves and general discussion points for the video.
