To start class we will focus on idioms and fixed phrases connected with sleep, for example sleep like a log, a light sleeper or a short nap. Students have to choose words they think complete the expressions. Then, working in pairs, they will discuss the questions.

Next, students are going to revise the grammar structures of used to, be used to and get used. First, they have to study some sentences and match them with correct meanings. Then, they have two situations and they have to complete three sentences for each of them with their own ideas. The next one is a sentence-completion task. After filling the gaps, students discuss in pairs which sentences are true for them.

The last two activities are based on the video. Students have to answer the comprehension questions on the speech and speaker’s ideas. Then, they will have a short discussion and talk about other issues connected with sleep.

Class two

In class two we will focus on relative clauses. Students will first learn about defining relative clauses and practise using them to give clues about famous people, places and everyday objects.

Then we will look at non-defining relative clauses used to provide extra information. Students will work together to rewrite sentences using relative clauses.  To finish off we will play a Kahoot to practise this grammar.
