In class one we will begin with a discussion in pairs using these conversation starter questions:

Following on we will focus on the topic of anecdotes and what makes a good anecdote.

Then we will complete a revision of past and perfect tenses and how to use them. We will watch the following video to help us do this:

Having watched the video we will work in pairs to complete exercises 2 and 3 on page 9. Finally, students will tell their own anecdote to a partner, incorporating the past tenses we revised earlier.

We will finish the class with a game of Scattergories to learn three new phrasal verbs.

Thursday 30th

Today we will start off by playing Bamboozle to practice some confusing words. This activity is also found on page 10 of the book. 

Afterwards we will listen to four people talk about how they learn a new language, and discuss our own techniques to help remember difficult words.

Students will then work in pairs to discuss the debate topics in exercise 3, incorporating interactive language useful for part 3 of the speaking exam. We will then come together as a class and share our ideas. 

To finish the class we will play another round of scattergories to learn three more phrasal verbs. 

Homework

  1. Read the article about learning english and complete exercises 5 and 6. 
  2. Watch the video about future tenses and complete exercises 1, 2 and 3.

We will check all the answers in class next Tuesday (5th October)
