Class 1 – Tuesday, October 19th
Hello! Today we will begin by revising all the idioms we’ve learned so far. We will also review the vocabulary from the previous unit and check the homework, discussing any issues and answering related questions. Then we will begin the unit 1 – Good company. First we will practice conversation – we’ll talk about the social media, hear the arguments for and against the social media today and make sure we use speaking phrases when expressing our opinion.
We will then expand our vocabulary and learn some new words and phrases that can be used when talking about not just the social media, but other situations as well.
Later we will do the listening practice and do exercises 1, 3, 5 and 6 on page 14 of Student’s book with a special focus on «distraction techniques in listening tasks» that often pose a challenge for CAE candidates.
Homework (for next Tuesday): Student’s book, tasks 1, 2 and 3, page 12 (Grammar revision, future tenses)
Class 2 – Thursday, October 21st
Today we will talk about personality types and personality traits. We will talk about the idiom «to get along with someone» and see other ways how to express having a close relationship/friendship with someone.
We will do exercises 1-5 on page 15 and practice word formation (conversions from noun to adjective, from verb to noun, adjective to adverb etc). which is a part 3 of CAE exam Reading and Use of English.
