Class 1 – Tuesday, February 15th
Hi everyone and happy Tuesday!
Today we will start a new lesson – unit 5: Surfing, scrolling and swiping.
As you can imagine, this unit will be about technology, artificial intelligence and all those cutting edge gadgets that make our everyday lives a little less complicated.
We will begin with listening on page 66 of the Student’s book. We’ll do task 1 and continue with tasks 2 and 3 which are also related to the first task.
We’ll point out some things that could prove useful when identifying speakers’ opinions and attitudes in listening part of CAE exam.
We’ll finish with a speaking practice for speaking part 2 of CAE exam:
Homework: Write an essay about the importance of internet in a modern world:
Tips for writing:
Structure: use the correct structure – introduction, key points for, key points against, conclusion
Be objective: give a balanced argument and make your overall opinion clear in the conclusion
Language: use neutral or formal language. For this part don’t use informal or emotional language
Vocabulary: use suitable words or expressions to introduce, add, contrast and link ideas
Examples: include examples to illustrate ideas
Class 2 – Thursday, February 17th
Today we will continue working on unit 5: we’ll expand vocabulary with new words from the task 1 (multi-word verbs) on page 67 of the Student’s book.
Then we’ll take a look at the task 4 on the same page which will also be a practice for part 5 of Reading and Use of English – keyword transformations.
