Today we will continue learning about the passive voice. Today we will move onto the Causative.
First off we will work in pairs to discuss the following questions:
- If you have a car, when did you last have it repaired?
- If you don’t have a car, how important is it to have your teeth whitened?
- To improve Valencia, what do you want/need done? (Reply: I want/need………… done.)
- If you were a millionaire, what would you have done for you? (Reply: I would have………… done.)
- How often do you get food delivered to your home? When was the last time and what type of food was it?
- Have you ever got your phone/valuable object stolen? What happened?
- Do you prefer to plan your own holidays or get a travel agent to plan it for you? What are the advantages of both?
We will then cover the grammar behind the causative:
- Have/get/want/need something done
- Have someone do something
- Get something done (for negatives situations)
- Get someone to do something

Today we will revise the causatives by looking at the pictures in the following link and making sentences in pairs using the causative passive structure:
Following on we will look at reporting verbs used in the passive voice.

Experts think that Van Gogh painted the painting in 1888.
Van Gogh is thought to have painted the painting in 1888.
The police think he killed his wife.
He is thought to have killed his wife.
- When is the big bang thought to have happened?
