Monday / Tuesday
Today we will move onto a new topic, which is all about intelligence. We will:
- Start off with a short “intelligence quiz” Bamboozle and discuss what intelligence is, and the different types of thinkers.
- Can intelligence be measured? If so, what is the best way to measure it? If not, why not?
- Look at the poster: What type of thinker are you?
- Put the following organisms in order of intelligence:
- Dolphin
- Sunflower
- Jellyfish
- Mold
- Cat
- Parrot
We will then look at some questionable forms of intelligent life and learn about brainless learning, plus how to guess the meaning of words from context on page 95
To finish the class we will learn some adverb and adjective collocations using this Quizlet Live (vocabulary also on page 92/93)
Homework:
Complete exercises 1 and 2 regarding RUoE part 1.
Complete exercises 2 on page 93 regarding adverb adjective collocations.
Wednesday/Thursday
Today the focus is on speaking part 2, and in particular comparing and contrasting.
We will look at what language we can use to compare and contrast, and then put it into practice with a guided speaking activity. We will listen to a sample answer from speaking part 2, and then students will complete exam practice tasks in pairs.
