Today we will revise how to write a review. 

We will begin with general discussion: 

  1. What’s the most useful gadget you have in your house?
  2. What’s the most useful app you have on your phone?
  3. What’s the most useful piece of software you have on your computer?
  4. How do these things make your life easier?
  5. Why do you think these gadgets/apps/pieces of software have become popular?

We will also watch this advert: Introducing Thermomix® TM6™

  1. Does your family have a Thermomix? If so, is it useful? If not, would you like one?
  2. What things can it do?
  3. How does it compare to its competitors?

We will read a review on the Thermomix to revise the structure, and also to learn some interesting language we can use in our reviews.

We will then work in pairs to plan our homework task

Writing (review)

An electronics company has invited customers to write a review about their favourite electronic gadget. Write a review about an electronic gadget that you couldn’t live without. 

Your review should outline the gadget’s capabilities and what you use it for. You should also comment on the extent to which the gadget meets your needs.

Write your review in 220-260 words.

Today we will work in pairs to complete a full speaking exam.
