Hi guys,
This week we will kick off with a discussion about fame, fortune and celebrities. We will then read through the exam task on page 102 and debate whether or not we are in agreement with the main points the writer sets out, though the completion of the task is for homework.
For the main part of today we will be looking at contrast clauses. While some of this may be revision, it’s really important to make sure we use it correctly in the exam, so it is worth reading the grammar explanation on page 159 of the students book (or see below).
Students will work individually to complete exercise 6 on page 103, before collaborating with a partner to complete exercise 10 on page 104. To finish off class we will analyse the essay question on page 106 and then have a short debate.
- Homework:
- Complete the exam task on page 102 (for Thursday)
- Complete the essay task on page 106 (for Tuesday)
- Watch the following video about gastrodiplomacy and think about the following questions: (for Thursday)
- Is food culture an important element of your country’s identity?
- What’s the role of food?
- What’s your favourite foreign dish?
- What do you think about promoting a country through gastrodiplomacy?
- How effective is the idea of connecting refugees and residents through food in neighbourhoods?
- Is food culture an important element of your country’s identity?
In class two we will start off by checking the homework on page 102 and then discussing the video and questions that were set for homework. We will then turn our attention to listening part 2 on page 110, which is all about one of your teacher’s favourite cuisines: curry! After completing and correcting the task we will play a Kahoot to learn some new idioms related to food and then put them into practise by working in pairs to discuss a number of questions.
- Homework:
- Complete the exam task on page 108-109
- Complete exercise 4 on page 109
