Class one

In class one we will focus speaking part 2 of the exam, in particular some advanced expressions to show speculation. We will look at a variety of photographs from this Prezi and make guesses about what is happening using the expressions below. 

We will practise the following to express speculation about a present situation:

  1. …look(s) as if…
  2. …give(s) the impression that… judging by…
  3. …seem(s)/appear(s)…
  4. I imagine…
  5. It’s entirely possible that…

We will practise the following expressions to show speculation in the past:

  1. They could/might/may have just + past participle (very recent events)
  2. They can’t have just + past participle (very recent events)
  3. They must have just + past participle (very recent events)
  4. Perhaps they have…………..
  5. They look as if they have……………….

We will finish this part of the class by completing the speaking tasks on pages 24-25.

We will also complete a part 1 listening exam task on the topic of discussions.

In the second half of class we will focus on part 3 of the use of english exam (word formation). We will look at prefixes and suffixes and some of the more common rules.

Next we will work individually to complete the exam task on page 21

We will finish the class with a Kahoot to practise some common word formations from the CAE exam.
