Class one

Today we will look at the use of inversion, which will be very useful in formal and semi-formal writing. We will start by looking at how it is formed and why/when it can be used effectively.  Then we will practice it orally with the help of Indiana Jones, before students make a written record.

This grammar point also comes up in part 4 of the Reading and Use of English exam so we will look at some key word transformations.

Below you can find all the material that will be used in the class:

Class two

In the second half of the class we will talk about films and the world of cinema. We will start off by working in pairs to determine what makes a good film, and some examples of the best films or series we have seen. We will then look at how to write a film review using the materials below, which will also be handed out in class.

We will also then finish class with a kahoot that includes some fantastic language that can be used in a film review.

Homework:

Please complete either of the two exam tasks from the photocopies. The only difference between the two questions is that the first asks you to review two films, whereas the second question asks you to write about a TV series.
